Medieval Spøttrup – in the footsteps of the knights
Do your students have what it takes to become knights in the Middle Ages? When you visit Spøttrup Castle, you’ll travel back in time to the late Middle Ages, where the students will try to follow in the footsteps of the knights. It takes courage, strength and good education to live up to the norms and values that applied to a knight.
When it was built, Spøttrup Castle was one of the kingdom’s most modern fortresses. In this historical setting, the museum’s educators will take the students on a tour where they will see and hear about the castle as a fortress and learn about chivalrous behavior. Together with a teacher, they will compete in combat techniques in various exciting disciplines. Students will also be introduced to the art of Heraldry, and in groups they will design their own coats of arms, which they will then paint.

Christmas calendar with Museum Salling 2025
Join us for an exciting advent calendar experience. Behind the calendar doors is a unique mix of familiar, forgotten, old and new Christmas traditions. Our advent calendar takes you on an exciting journey through time, exploring traditions from different time periods, walks of life and countries. Some Christmas traditions can be traced back to the Middle Ages, while others have links to the Christian church – or maybe they’re even based on superstitions that were prevalent in the 18th and 19th centuries. This year (2025), our Christmas calendar opening will take place at Spøttrup Borg and Skive Byarkiv. We open the gate of the day, play a cozy Christmas game and learn about the historic Christmas tree. First come, first served principle applies.
