Would you like to be part of history come to life? Spøttrup Borg opens its doors to anyone who is curious about volunteer life.
Sarah Sander Laugesen, Project Manager at Spøttrup Borg says: “Volunteer life at Spøttrup Borg is diverse – here you can geek out, have fun, learn new things and be creative together with others. On the day you can meet the many communities that keep the castle alive all year round, including the Scare Guild, which creates scares for All Saints’ Day, the creative Geek and Costume Guild, which knits, sews, makes leatherwork and creates medieval clothes for e.g. Bispens Market, and the Guided Tour Guild, which is for those who want to convey the history of the castle to visitors.”
Sarah continues: “Visit Spøttrup Borg’s website to find out more about the different activities that are already taking place for the volunteers. And it doesn’t stop there – maybe you dream of starting a new community yourself? A medieval podcast, a dance school, a medieval games team, a cooking guild or a film club – at Spøttrup Borg the only limit is your imagination. As a volunteer, you help create experiences for both the audience and the community. You can geek out, unleash your creativity and be part of a living cultural heritage.”
At Spøttrup Borg, there are already several volunteers who help out at various events and activities, including Charlotte and Michael Overgaard; they say: “We are volunteers at Spøttrup Borg and help out during Bispens Marked, Allehelgens and the Christmas market. We help with everything we can and therefore have some varied tasks. We’ve always enjoyed volunteering at various festivals and events, and when we found out that you could become a volunteer at Spøttrup Borg, we jumped at the chance. We love to experience a whole lot and make good friends, which you do as a volunteer. There’s a great sense of unity and community that we both enjoy.”
Come to Volunteer Day on September 13 – maybe it will be the beginning of your own new adventure at Spøttrup Borg.
